Story Club is back from hiatus with the pals discussing George Saunders's wackadoo zombie story "Sea Oak"

The pals all read an under-appreciated modernist masterpiece: Under the Volcano by Malcolm Lowry.

The pals discuss the short story "Song Loon" written by Patreon supporter Bonnie West.

It's a new Story Club episode. This time we go back once again to the Dybek well with the story "Paper Lanterns" and compare it with one of its inspirations, Yasunari Kawabata's "The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket."

The personal pals are joined by guest host Chaya Bhuvaneswar--author of the upcoming story collection White Dancing Elephants--for a new installment of Story Club, discussing Z.Z. Packer's "Drinking Coffee Elsewhere" and Gish Jen's "Birthmates." (Apologies for a few audio hiccups, a better call-in system is being devised.)

The personal pals convene another Story Club and discuss three short stories: "The Darkness" by Amelia Gray, "A Visit" by Steven Millhauser, and "The Rememberer" by Aimee Bender. Then the pals are joined for a phone interview with author Amelia Gray who discusses "The Darkness" and shares some news about her upcoming projects.

The personal pals discuss "Bullet in the Brain" and "Hunters in the Snow" by Tobias Wolff. Check our twitter or tumblr pages for links to the stories so you can read along with us.
